Dass eine Eiche und eine Rotbuche direkt nebeneinander wachsen, ist höchst ungewöhnlich. In Hemel gibt es eine solche Kombination. Möglich ist das durch besondere Stärken beider Bäume und die örtlichen Begebenheiten.
Wer von Buche spricht, meint meist die Rotbuche, Fagus sylvatica. Sie ist die einzige in Mitteleuropa heimische Buchenart und wuchs hier bereits vor der letzten Eiszeit, in der ihr Verbreitungsgebiet in den Mittelmeerraum gedrängt wurde.
